Inspiring Supporter Action – Great New Resource
March 20, 2012 § Leave a comment
I came across a great guide written by my friend Emma Taggart for NCVO/BOND called Inspiring Supporter Action. Have a read – some points that stood out for me below;
- 75% of the public have campaigned on behalf of a charity and almost everyone would consider it. People want to campaign – we are just particularly bad at getting people involved!
- Relationships -already in community groups, faith communities, trade unions, support groups
- Experiences – personally effected by issue – health
- First step into activism is often despite the campaign issue, rather than because of it. They’ve been brought along by family member or friend – and only develop passion for the issue after starting to campaign on it. What does this tell about where largest potential new activists are? One step away from our existing campaigners!

Hip Hop Takes On The Riots

If you haven’t yet heard Plan B’s new release ‘Ill Manors’ – check it out. Powerful stuff.
Then listen to this interview with 1Xtra – the guy knows what he’s talking about and has a plan.
“If you don’t understand it, especially after hearing me speak about it now…, then maybe you’re not as educated as you think. Or maybe you’re educated academically, but you need to go out there and get some life experience under your belt. ‘Cause I’ll tell you one thing, if these kids on the street and on the estates are so stupid, how come they can understand hip hop and the rest of the world can’t?”
